Thank you for your interest in Auditions for “Return to the Forbidden Planet”.  Please be advised that this is a Theatre 8 production and that the following is part of the Theatres Requirements:

·         Memberships – All performers are asked to join Theatre 8 as members.  If after audition you are selected and accept a part you will be required to pay $20.00 for your annual Memberships.
This means that in the unlikely event of you being injured you will be covered whilst on stage.  Your membership will also cover the newsletter which will inform you of future productions and auditions. 

·         Set Construction / Set Strike – As we are all volunteers we are all required to assist build the set (on weekends) and break it down (Sunday, after last performance).  Although we accept your limitations we would like to have as many helpers whilst this is happening, whether this be a bit of painting, complex carpentry or making the tea.

·         Rehearsals – will be Tuesday, Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons.  Please acknowledge the rehearsal schedule and performance dates, if you will be unable to make them please advise at your earliest convenience as these are important in the development of your character.

·         Audition – For this production, your audition will be a closed audition, meaning you will perform in front of a panel of 3, the Director, the Technical Director and Artistic Director.  Whilst performing on stage you will be asked your name and the Character you are auditioning for.  You can go for as many characters as you like on the night, and if you can or want to play a character of the opposite sex, then you will certainly be allowed to give it a go.  You will also be required to sing TWO songs, one from the character and one of your own choice.

Come at 7pm to register your name with the Producer.  He will then call you up (when the character is being auditioned) one at a time.  The Producer is there to help you so if there are parts of the dialogue that you aren’t sure of then please ask as we would like you to feel comfortable.  Shakespeare will be new to many of you, but do not worry, we are not looking for you to be proficient from the outset.

You will perform your audition with Tim speaking the other parts.  If you make a mistake then don’t worry, you are welcome to start again. 

If you are unable to make the Audition date then don’t panic as you can request an audition in front of the Director and Producer earlier than the date

Boys Own Adventure type / Dan Dare.  Captain of ship but doesn’t know any of the technical stuff.  Relies on his Science officer to guide him.
