"Nero's Hero" (A romp through ancient Rome!) Adapted By Jean Crozier and Pat Miles
Directed by Pat Miles
PERFORMED
DECEMBER 2004 Director's Notes "Nero's Hero" is a risqué romp through Ancient Rome, filled with comic songs, naughty jokes, 'nudge-nudge, wink-wink' antics and big chorus numbers - and that's just for starters! A group of very ignoble Roman Merchants hatch a plot to kill the excessive money-grabbing, concubine-collecting Emperor, Nero. An extremely unlikely Hero unwittingly uncovers the plan and gets a lot more than he bargains for as a reward! Add to this a bevy of Court Beauties, Nero's hard-hearted wife and a very bad Roman poet, and the stage is set. Mix in a dash of cross-dressing just to stir things up a bit and the fun really begins!
