A Play by Ray Lawler Directed by Lachlan Adam Co-Directed by Tim Rust An Australian Classic scheduled for March 2012.
Show Dates /Times: Auditions have now taken place and the cast is confirmed below:
- TIM RUST plays BARNEY IBBOT . Barney is a challenging role and one that Tim hopes he can bring to the stage with the power of performance required to bring the play and, his relationship with Roo, to life. Tim has played several character parts on stage, most memorably as Manuel in Fawlty Towers. He recently directed the acclaimed Journey's End but is mainly known as the primary Set builder and is looking forward to bringing the Fifties to life in a late 19th Century Melbourne town house.
- LYNDA BROUGH plays OLIVE LEECH. Many will remember Lynda for her great singing voice. Sadly no singing in this next production for Lynda but she has recently starred in both Deadwood Dick and Steel Magnolias.
- TIFF BASKEYFIELD plays PEARL CUNNINGHAM. Tiff is another new member at Theatre 8 having made her debut in Steel Magnolias alongside Lynda. The chemistry that both shared in that production will ensure memorable performances in this drama set in 1950's Melbourne.
- MARY MAURER plays EMMA LEECH. Mary is one of Theatre 8's great characters and is seldom off the stage. She recently played a hatcheteer in Deadwood Dick, and alongside Lynda played one of the batty, old women in Fawlty Towers who add to Basil Fawlty's woes.
- SHAKYRA BASKEYFIELD plays BUBBA RYAN. SHAKYRA is also new to Theatre 8 but not to treading the boards. She gave a very impressive audition for the part of Bubba and we look forward to seeing her on our stage.
- LACHLAN ADAM plays JOHNNY DOWD. Such is the random nature of theatre Lachie has ended up playing a small part in Summer as well as Directing it (See below). Lachlan grew up with Theatre 8 and has extensive experience both on and off the stage as an amateur and professionally. SUMMER has been one of Lachie's favourite plays since school and one, as Director, he has been looking forward to bringing to the Geraldton stage.
