POTATO

Following an audience with Sir Walter Raleigh, Queen Elizabeth announces the possibility of her marrying an adventurer. Edmund Blackadder immediately announces his own voyage of discovery, despite his lack of experience, a ship or crew, personal courage, or the intention of actually carrying it out.

Samuel Johnson has nearly completed his dictionary, and visits his sponsor the Prince Regent. Unfortunately, the illiterate Baldrick burns the manuscript leaving Blackadder the impossible task of recreating in one weekend what it took Johnson nearly a decade to write.

MAJOR STAR

In order to improve morale, General Melchett asks Captain Blackadder to organize a variety show in the traditional British music-hall style. Seeing another opportunity to leave the trenches, Blackadder agrees - despite detesting variety shows and being horrified at the lack of talent available to him.
